India vs Australia First Test Day 2 Adelaide Match Report 2020

Ravi Ashwin claimed four wickets as India took control on Day 2 of the opening Test at Adelaide on Friday.

Resuming overnight at 233/6, Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc wrapped up the innings quickly by claiming the last four wickets for just 11 runs, as India were bowled out for 244.

Australia suffered an early jolt, as Jasprit Bumrah claimed both Matthew Wade and Joe Burns in the first session.

Ashwin got into the act by claiming the wickets of the star batsman Steve Smith, Travis Head, and Cameron Green as the home side were struggling at 79/5.

The pair of Marnus Labuschagne and Tim Paine resurected the innings with a solid 32 run stand for the sixth wicket.

Labuschagne who was dropped three times failed to capitalize as he was trapped leg before wicket to Umesh Yadav.

Yadav dismissed Pat Cummins in the same over, reducing Australia to 111/7.

Skipper Tim Paine who was dropped by Mayank Agarwal on 26, cashed in and scored a brilliant unbeaten 73.

Some useful contributions from Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, and Josh Hazlewood helped the Aussies reduce the deficit to 53, as they were bowled out for 191.

Ravichandran Ashwin was India’s best bowler with figures of 4/55, while Umesh Yadav claimed 3 wickets.

With a useful lead of 53, India lost out of form Prithvi Shaw cheaply to Pat Cummins for 4.

Jasprit Bumrah who came in as nightwatchman ensured that no more wickets fell in the final overs.

India finished at 9/1 with an overall lead of 62.
