David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha both scored explosive half centuries, as Sunrisers Hyderabad thrashed the Delhi Capitals by 88 runs at Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday.
Sunrisers included Kane Williamson, Wriddhiman Saha and Shahbaz Nadeem for Jonny Bairstow, Priyam Garg,and Khaleel Ahmed, while Delhi went in with an unchanged line up.
After being sent in by DC, SRH got off to a blistering start with Warner and Saha adding 107 for the opening wicket, before the southpaw was caught at extra cover by Axar Patel off Ravichandran Ashwin for a 34 ball 66.
The 36 year old wicket keeper batsman, asked to open the batting in the absence of Jonny Bairstow, grabbed the opportunity with both hands by scoring a sparkling 87 off 45 balls before falling to Anrich Nortje. His innings comprised off 12 fours and 2 sixes.
However the Delhi bowlers pulled things back towards the end by giving away just 44 runs in the last 5 overs to restrict Sunrisers to 219/2 at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing 220, Delhi Capitals started disastrously by losing the in form Shikhar Dhawan in the very first over to Sandeep Sharma for a duck.
Marcus Stoinis promoted at No 3 also departed cheaply, leaving Delhi in a spot of bother at 14/2.
The pair of Ainkya Rahane and Shimron Hetmyer steadied the ship with a 40 run stand, before both were removed by Rashid Khan in his first over.
Rishabh Pant (36) was left as the lone man standing as the rest of the other batsmen struggled to make an impact.
Tushar Deshpande hit some lusty blows at the end but couldn’t avoid his side going down for the third consecutive time , as Delhi Capitals eventually folded for 131 in 19 overs.
Rashid Khan was Sunrisers best bowler with figures of 3/7, which included 17 dot balls, while Sandeep Sharma and T Natrajan claimed 2 wickets each.
Wriddhiman Saha was declared the Man of the Match for his blistering knock.
