Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals 9 October Match Report 2020

Delhi Capitals moved to the top of the table by comprehensively defeating the Rajasthan Royals by 46 runs at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, in United Arab Emirates on Friday.

After being sent into bat by RR, Jofra Archer made early inroads by dismissing both Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan in the powerplay.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant couldn’t replicate their heroics from their previous game, as they both departed to embarrassing run outs for 22 & 5 respectively.

Stoinis provided some momentum for their team by scoring a valuable 39, before being caught by Smith off Rahul Tewatia.

Shimron Hetmyer attacked the Rajasthan bowlers and struck two consecutive sixes off Kartik Tyagi in the 17th over, before the bowler made a comeback by dismissing the former for a valuable 45. His knock came off just 24 balls, with five sixes and a solitary four.

Harshal Patel and Axar Patel scored respective cameos, as Delhi ended up with 184/8 at the end of 20 overs.

Jofra Archer was Royals best bowler with figures of 3/24.

Chasing 185, Rajasthan got off to a poor start, by losing Jos Buttler early to a good catch by Shikhar Dhawan off Ravichandran Ashwin.

Skipper Steve Smith and young Yashasvi Jaiswal added 41 runs for the second wicket, before Smith was caught brilliantly in the deep by Hetmyer.

Sanju Samson and Mahipal Lomror didn’t trouble the scorers, as Rajasthan were struggling at 72/4.

All rounder Stoinis brought an end to Jaiswal’s fighting knock of 34 runs with an excellent delivery.

Apart from Rahul Tewatia (38), none of the other lower-order batsmen provided resistance, a Rajasthan Royals were bowled out for 138 runs, giving Delhi a comfortable win.

Kagiso Rabada was once again impressive with figures of 3/35, while Ashwin and Stoinis claimed 2 wickets each.

Ravi Ashwin was declared the Man of the Match.

DC will be facing MI in their next fixture on October 11, while Rajasthan will face Hyderabad.
