South Africa vs Australia Semifinal 1, Trinidad June 27-Match Report 2024

Marco Jansen claimed figures of 3/12, as South Africa thrashed Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the first semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Thursday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Afghanistan were rocked early as Marco Jansen claimed wickets of Rahmanullah Gurbaz (0) and Gulbadin Naib (9) with the score on 16.

Kagiso Rabada then got into the act by striking twice in his opening over, as Afghanistan lost half their side for 23.

Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi then claimed five wickets between them, as Afghans were routed out for 56 in 11.5 overs.

Chasing 57, South Africa lost Quinton De Kock early for 5. The pair of Reeza Hendricks (29) and Aiden Markram (23) featured in an unbeaten 55 run stand for the second wicket to take South Africa to a comfortable 9 wicket win.

With this victory, the Proteas reached their maiden Men’s World Cup final.

India vs Australia Super 8 Group 1 St Lucia Match Report 2024

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored a magnificent 92 as India booked their spot in the semifinals by beating Australia by 24 runs in the Super 8 fixture at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St Lucia on Monday.

After being asked to bat first, Virat Kohli’s lean run with the bat continued as he perished to Josh Hazlewood for a duck.

Rohit Sharma took on the Australian bowlers by smashing them to all parts of the group. He smashed a 41 ball-92 before perishing to Mitchell Starc.

Some useful contributions down the order from Suryakumar Yadav (31), Shivam Dube (28), and Hardik Pandya (27 ) helped The Men in Blue reached a mammoth score of 205/5 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 206, Australia started shakily by losing David Warner (6) early to Arshdeep Singh. The pair of Travs Head and Mitchell Marsh stitched together a 81 run stand for the second wicket before the latter fell to a stupendous one handed catch by Axar Patel off Kuldeep Yadav for 37.

Kuldeep then claimed his second wicket of the game by claiming Maxwell for 20. However regular wickets halted Australia’s momentum as the ended up with 181/7, thereby falling 24 run short of the target.

Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/27, while Kuldeep bagged 2 wickets.

India 205 for 5 (Rohit 92, Hazlewood 1-14) beat Australia 181 for 7 (Head 76, Arshdeep 3-37, Kuldeep 2-24) by 24 runs

List of T20 World Cup Fixtures 2024- ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 Schedule

The Super 8 fixtures have been announced with Bangladesh securing their place in the Super 8 by beating Nepal in the Group D match on Monday.

The teams that have qualifed for Super 8 are India (Group A), USA (Group A), Australia (Group B), England (Group B), Afghanistan (Group C), West Indies (Group C), South Africa (Group D) and Bangladesh (Group D). All the games will be held in West Indies.
