South Africa vs Australia Semifinal 1, Trinidad June 27-Match Report 2024

Marco Jansen claimed figures of 3/12, as South Africa thrashed Afghanistan by 9 wickets in the first semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad on Thursday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Afghanistan were rocked early as Marco Jansen claimed wickets of Rahmanullah Gurbaz (0) and Gulbadin Naib (9) with the score on 16.

Kagiso Rabada then got into the act by striking twice in his opening over, as Afghanistan lost half their side for 23.

Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi then claimed five wickets between them, as Afghans were routed out for 56 in 11.5 overs.

Chasing 57, South Africa lost Quinton De Kock early for 5. The pair of Reeza Hendricks (29) and Aiden Markram (23) featured in an unbeaten 55 run stand for the second wicket to take South Africa to a comfortable 9 wicket win.

With this victory, the Proteas reached their maiden Men’s World Cup final.
