Harmanpreet Kaur’s First T20 International Hundred- India Women vs New Zealand Women T-20 Match Report 2018

India women’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur notched up her maiden T-20 hundred, as India comfortably beat New Zealand by 34 runs in the first match of the World T20 World Cup on Friday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, India were rocked early, as they lost both Taniya Bhatia and star batsman Smriti Mandhana to Lea Tahuhu.

Debutant Dayalan Hemalatha too fell cheaply, leaving India in a spot of bother 40/3 at one stage.

However, Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues then steadied the ship by adding 134 runs for the fourth wicket before the 18 year old Rodrigues was dismissed stumped by Katey Martin off Jess Watkin for a quickfire 59.

The 29 year old Kaur brought up her first T-20 hundred by smashing 103 runs off 51 balls with seven fours and 8 sixes. In the process she also became the first Indian to score a T-20 century in Women’s cricket. Her powerful hitting saw eight balls cross the fence- New Zealand by comparison could only manage one. No team in the previous T20 World Cup had managed to hit eight or more sixes either- another indicator of Kaur’s destructive capabilities. Australia vs South Africa 2018 Adelaide Second ODI match report- Proteas choke & collapse again!

Australia ended their seven game losing streak in ODI’s as they beat South Africa by 7 runs in the second one day international at Adelaide. The home side produced a strong bowling performance to defend a modest total of 232 on what appeared to be a good batting wicket, storming back after a chastening defeat five days ago in Perth.

South African skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and sent Australia in at the Adelaide Oval. The hosts suffered an early jolt as local lad Travis Head was trapped LBW by Lungi Ngidi for 8 runs. Even worse, Head wasted the review despite the appeal looking good in real time.

The returning Shaun Marsh along with skipper Aaron Finch added 54 runs for the second wicket stand, before Kagiso Rabada provided a much needed breakthrough by getting rid of Marsh for 22.

Finch looked set for a big score, but lost his concentration and chopped on for 41, giving Dwaine Pretorius his first wicket of the game.

Chris Lynn then took Rabada to the cleaners, hitting a six and three fours off consecutive deliveries. The South African pacer however had the last laugh as Lynn attempted to smite another delivery, only to be caught behind by Quinton De Kock.
