India vs Sri Lanka Second T20I Pallekele 28 July Match Report 2024

Ravi Bishnoi claimed figures of 3/26 as India beat Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in the rain-affected game against Sri Lanka in the 2nd T20I in Pallekele on Sunday.

After being asked to bat first, Sri Lanka got off to a steady start. The pair of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis added 26 runs for the opening stand before the latter perished to Arshdeep Singh for 10.

Nissanka featured in yet another 54 run stand for the second wicket alongside Kusal Perera before the former was trapped leg before wicket by a wrong’un from Ravi Bishnoi for 32.

Kamindu Mendis looked good in his knock of 26, before dragging at a fullish delivery from Hardik Pandya to Arshdeep at deep square leg.

Perera (53) fell in the same over, pulling at short delivery from Hardik, where Rinku Singh took a fine catch diving forward.

The hosts lost momentum in the final overs as they scored just 22 runs in the last four overs. Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga were both fell for golden ducks, as Lankans finished at 161/9 in their 20 overs.

In response, rain interrupted play as the visitors were given a revised target of 78 in 8 overs. Sanju Samson who opened the innings in place of the injured Shubman Gill was cleaned up by by Maheesh Theekshana for a golden duck.

Yashasvi Jaiswal along with skipper Suryakumar Yadav put on 39 runs for the second wicket stand before the latter was dismissed by Matheesha Pathirana for 26.

Jaiswal scored a breezy 15 ball-30, before falling to a fine catch in boundary by Dasun Shanaka off Wanindu Hasaranga.

Pandya provided the finishing touches towards the end by scoring an unbeaten 9 ball-22 as The Men in Blue cruised to target of 78 in just 6.3 overs.

With this win, The Men in Blue lead the three match series 2-0.
