Jasprit Bumrah claimed figures of 3/14 in front of 34,028 crowd as The Men in Blue registered a thrilling 6 run win over arch rivals Pakistan at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
After being asked to bat first, Pakistan pace attack did a fantastic job by bowling out India for 119 in 19 overs. Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel scored 42 & 20 respectively, while the other batters struggled to get going.
Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/21.
In response, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan got Pakistan off to a steady start. The pair added 26 runs for the opening stand before the former fell to a fine catch at slip by Suryakumar Yadav off Bumrah for 13.
Axar Patel then got into the act by trapping Usman Khan (13). Bumrah then turned the game in India’s favour by cleaning up the dangerous Rizwan for 31.
The rest of the batters failed to handle the pressure as The Men in Green ended up with 113/7, thereby falling 6 run short of the target.
