Travis Head scored a magnificent 102 as Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 25 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday.

After being asked to bat by RCB skipper, Abhishek Sharma and Head got Sunrisers off to a blazing start. The duo added 108 runs for the opening wicket before the former clipped one from Topley to Du Plessis at deep square leg for 34.

Head reached his century off just 39 balls, which was the fourth fastest in IPL history. He eventually perished while trying to take on Lockie Ferguson for a 41 ball-102.

Heinrich Klaasen scored a quickfire 31 ball-67 before becoming Ferguson’s second victim. However cameos from Aiden Markram (32)* and Abdul Samad (37)* helped Sunrisers reach a gigantic score of 287/3 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 288, Virat Kohli and Du Plessis got Bengaluru off to a rollicking start. The duo put on 80 runs for the opening stand before the former missed a slog sweep and was bowled by Mayank Markande for 42.

The likes of Will Jacks, Rajat Patidar and Saurav Chauhan fell cheaply. However Dinesh Karthik scored a valiant 83, but failed to take his team past the finishing line. In the end RCB reached 262/7, thereby falling 25 run short of the target.

Sunrisers Hyderabad 287 for 3 (Head 102, Klaasen 67, Ferguson 2-52) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore 262 for 7 (Karthik 83, du Plessis 62, Cummins 3-43) by 25 runs
