Smriti Mandhana led from the front by scoring 80 in front of 26,483 crowd as Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated UP Warriorz by 23 runs in Bengaluru on Monday.
After being asked to bat first, Mandhana led the charge by scoring a breezy 50 ball-80, which included 10 fours and 3 sixes. Ellyse Perry (58) and Richa Ghosh (21) provided some handy comtributions towards the end to take their side to 198/3 in their 20 overs.
In response, Alyssa Healy and Kiran Navgire got Warriorz off to a steady start. The pair added 47 runs for the opening stand before the latter perished to Sophie Devine for 18.
Chamari Athapaththu was controversially dismissed leg before wicket, with the replay suggesting the ball would have pitched outside the leg stump.
However, UP Warriorz lost wickets at regular intervals and finished at 175/8, thereby losing the contest by 23 runs.
