India vs West Indies Second T20I 6 August Guyana Match Report 2023

Nicholas Pooran scored a blazing 67 as West Indies beat India by 2 wickets in the second T20 international at Guyana on Sunday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, India lost Shubman Gill in the third over off Alzarri Joseph for 7. Suryakumar Yadav (1) was then run out following a brilliant piece of fielding by Kyle Mayers.

The pair of Ishan Kishan along with Tilak Varma resurrected the innings with a valuable 42 run stand for the third wicket before the former perished to Romario Shepherd for 27.

Sanju Samson departed cheaply for 7 as the visitors slumped to 76/4. Varma then featured in yet another crucial 38 run stand for the fifth wicket alongside skipper Hardik Pandya before the former fell to Akeal Hosein after completing his maiden T20I fifty.

Joseph claimed his second wicket by claiming Pandya for 24. However some useful contributions down the order from Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh propelled the Men in Blue to a competitive score of 152/7 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 153, West Indies started disastrously by losing Brandon King (0) and Johnson Charles (2) in the very first over off Hardik Pandya.

Arshdeep Singh then got into the act by trapping Kyle Mayers for 15. Nicholas Pooran along with Rovman Powell added 57 runs for the fourth wicket before the latter fell to Hardik for 21.

Pooran then turned the game in the hosts favour by launching Ravi Bishnoi for 3 fours and a six. However after the dismissal of the left hander Pooran, West Indies suffered a mini collapse as they slumped for 126/4 to 129/8.

Akeal Hosein along with Alzarri Joseph then stitched an unbeaten 26-run stand for the ninth wicket to take the Windies to a thrilling 2 wicket win.

With this victory, the hosts take a 2-0 lead in the five match series.
