India vs West Indies Second Test Day 2 Port of Spain Match Report 2023

Virat Kohli’s fine 121 followed by fine half centuries from Ravindra Jadeja and Ravi Ashwin as India ended up with 438 at the end of Day 2 of the second test against West Indies at Port of Spain on Friday.

Resuming at 288/4, the overnight pair of Kohli and Jadeja added 53 more runs before the former was run out off a direct hit from Alzarri Joseph for 121.

Jadeja (61) was then caught behind the stumps off Kemar Roach, while attempting a tentative stroke. Ishan Kishan who was dropped by McKenzie at short midwicket, was dismissed off the very next delivery steering a short-of-a-length delivery to wicket keeper Joshua Da Silva for 25.

Ravi Ashwin then slammed a 78 ball-56 to take India to 438.

In response, openers Kraigg Brathwaite and Tagenarine Chanderpaul got West Indies off to a fine start. The pair added 71 runs for the opening stand before the latter was caught at short third man by Ashwin off Jadeja for 33.

At the end of Day 2 skipper Brathwaite (37) and debutant Kirk McKenzie (14) were unbeaten at the crease as the hosts finished at 86/1.
