Former skipper Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 87 as India ended Day 1 of the second test against West Indies at Port of Spain at 288/4.
The visitors included debutant Mukesh Kumar in place of Shardul Thaur who was ruled out due to minor niggle.
After being asked to bat first by West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite, openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal got India off to a fine start. The duo added 139 runs for the opening stand. Jaiswal who was dropped on 4 & 52, was finally dismissed in the second session, caught at deep gully by Kirk McKenzie off Jason Holder for 57.
Kemar Roach then got into the act by dismissing Shubman Gill for 10. Skipper Rohit Sharma missed out on his second successive hundred, as he was cleaned up by a peach off a delivery from Jomel Warrican for 80.
Ajinkya Rahane (8) then chopped a delivery from Shannon Gabriel onto his stumps as the visitors slumped to 182/4.
Kohli (87)* playing his 500th international game, shared an unbeaten 106 run stand for the fifth wicket alongside Ravindra Jadeja (36)* as India ended the day at 288/4.
