Australian skipper Pat Cummins lead from the front by scoring a fine unbeaten 44 as Australia beat England by 2 wickets in a thriller at Edgbaston on Tuesday.
The Aussies resumed their second innings at 107/3 after a rain delay. Stuart Broad then provided the first break through by sending back nightwatchman Scott Boland, caught behind the stumps for 20.
Moeen Ali then got into the act by dismissing Travis Head (16) caught behind by Joe Root at slip as Australia lost half their side for 143.
Usman Khawaja along with Cameron Green stitched together a valuable 49 run stand for the sixth wicket before the latter (28) chopped a length delivery from Ollie Robinson onto his stumps.
Alex Carey got a reprieve on 10, when Joe Root dropped a tough return catch off his own bowling. However the former England skipper made amends by dismissing Carey (20) a few overs later, leaving the visitors in trouble at 227/8.
Pat Cummins (44*) and Nathan Lyon (16)* shared an unbroken 55 run stand for the ninth wicket to give the visitors a famous win.
