Chennai Super Kings vs Punjab Kings Game 41 April 30 Chennai Match Report 2023

Devon Conway’s magnificent unbeaten 92 went in vain as Punjab Kings beat Chennai Super Kings by 4 wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway got Chennai off to a blazing start. The duo added 86 runs for the opening stand before the former was stumped by Jitesh Sharma off Sikandar Raza for 37.

Shivam Dube joined in and added 44 runs for the second wicket alongside Conway before the former toe ended a slower delivery from Arshdeep Singh to Shahrukh Khan at long on for 28.

Moeen Ali (10) and Ravindra Jadeja (12) departed cheaply, but skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni smashed Sam Curran for two successive sixes to take Chennai to 200/4 in their 20 overs.

Left hander Conway remained undefeated on 92 off just 52 balls. His innings comprised off 16 fours and 1 six.

Chasing 201, Punjab Kings opening pair of Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan got their side off to a quickfire start. The pair put on 50 runs for the first wicket before the latter top edged a delivery from Tushar Deshpande to Matheesha Pathirana at short third man.

Impact player Prabhsimran scored a breezy 24 ball-42 before being stumped by Dhoni off Ravindra Jadeja. Ravindra Jadeja then got into the act by dismissing Atharva Taide for 13.

However Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran brought the innings back on track with a 57 run stand for the fourth wicket before Tushar Deshpande broke the stand by claiming Livingstone for 40.

Mateesha Pathirana swung the momentum in favour of CSK by cleaning up Curran for a 20 ball-29.

With 3 needed off the final delivery Sikandar Raza (13) pulled Pathirana over square leg to give Punjab a memorable win.
