Shubman Gill scored a fantastic hundred as India finished at 289/3 at stumps at the end of Day 3 against Australia at Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Resumimg at 36/0, the overnight pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added 38 more runs before the former (35) was caught at short extra cover by Marnus Labuschagne off Matthew Kuhnemann.
The young talented Gill featured in 113 run stand for the second wicket alongside Cheteshwar Pujara before Todd Murphy struck before tea by trapping Pujara leg before wicket for 42.
The 23 year old Gujarat Titans star brought up his hundred in style with a boundary over short fine leg off Murphy. However he was dismissed leg before wicket by Nathan Lyon while trying to work at a delivery on the on side for a brilliant 128. His knock comprised off 12 fours and a six.
Virat Kohli (59)* took charge as he along with Ravindra Jadeja (16)* saw the day through without any further alarms by adding an unbeaten 44 run stand for the fourth wicket.
At the end of Day 3, the hosts reached 289/3 still trailing Australia by 191 runs.
