India vs Australia 2nd T20I Nagpur Match Report 2022

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front by scoring a fine unbeaten 46 as India defeated Australia in the rain affected second T20 international at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Friday.

After being asked to bat first, Australia lost the dangerous Cameron Green (5) to a brilliant run out from Virat Kohli towards mid on.

Axar Patel then struck twice- first by dismissing Glenn Maxwell for a first ball duck and then knocking over Tim David for 2.

Aaron Finch scored a breezy 15 ball-31 before being cleaned up by a magnificent yorker from Jasprit Bumrah.

Wicket keeper Matthew Wade played yet another crucial unbeaten 43 to take the tourists to 90/5 in 8 overs.

Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/13.

Chasing 91, openers Rohit Sharma along with KL Rahul got India off to a quickfire start. The duo added 39 runs for the opening wicket before Adam Zampa drew first blood by dismissing Rahul for 10.

Former skipper Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav fell in successive deliveries off Zampa, leaving the hosts in a spot of bother at 55/3.

Rohit added 22 runs for the fourth wicket alongside Hardik Pandya before the latter (9) skied a slower short delivery from Pat Cummins to Finch at covers.

With 9 needed off the final over, Dinesh Karthik finished the game in style by smashing Daniel Sams for a six and four to guide India to a six wicket win.

With this win, The Men in Blue levelled the three match series 1-1. The third and final T20I will be played at Hyderabad on Sunday.

Rohit was adjudged the Player of the Match.
