Deepak Chahar claimed figures of 3/27 on his return as India thumped Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in the first one day international in Harare on Thursday.
After being asked to bat first by Indian skipper KL Rahul, Chahar got visitors off to a dream start by dismissing Innocent Kaia (4) & Tadiwanashe Marumani (8) cheaply.
Mohammed Siraj then got into the act by dismissing Sean Williams (1),caught at first slip by Shikhar Dhawan.
Chahar claimed his third wicket by trapping Wessly Madhevere (5) in front of stumps.
The pair of Sikandar Raza along with skipper Regis Chakabva steadied the ship with a solid 35 run stand for the fifth wicket before the former perished to Prasidh Krishna.
The young Indian pacer claimed his second wicket when he had Ryan Burl (11) caught at deep backward square leg by Shubman Gill as the hosts slumped to 83/6.
Left arm spinner Axar Patel pegged the hosts back by claiming the wickets of the well set Regis Chakabva (35) bowled, and then trapping Luke Jongwe (13) leg before wicket.
Brad Evans and Richard Ngarava kept the Indian bowlers at bay with a valuable 70 run stand for the ninth wicket before the latter was cleaned up by a magnificent yorker from Krishna for a fine 34.
Axar then wrapped up the innings by dismissing Victor Nyauchi for 8, as the hosts were bowled out for 189 in 40.3 overs.
For India Deepak Chahar, Prasidh Krishna and Axar Patel claimed 3 wickets each.
Chasing 190, openers Shikhar Dhawan (81*) and Shubman Gill (82*) added an unbroken 192 run stand for the opening wicket as the visitors overhauled the target in 30.5 overs.
Chahar was adjudged the Player of the Match.
