India vs Sri Lanka Second T20I Dharamsala Match Report 2022

Shreyas Iyer scored a magnificent unbeaten 74 as India thumped Sri Lanka by 7 wickets in the second T20 international in Dharamsala on Saturday.

After being asked to bat first by Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, Sri Lanka openers Pathum Nissanka and Danushka Gunathilaka got their side off to a fine start. The pair added 67 runs for the opening wicket before the latter top edged a Ravindra Jadeja delivery to Venkatesh Iyer for 38.

Yuzvendra Chahal then got into the act by trapping Charith Asalanka (2) leg before wicket. Kamil Mishara chipped a Harshal Patel delivery to Shreyas Iyer at short cover, as the visitors slumped to 76/3.

Dinesh Chandimal fell to an off-cutter from Bumrah for 9. Nissanka along with Dasun Shanaka put on 58 runs for the fifth wicket before the former was trapped leg before wicket by Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a breezy 53 ball-75.

Shanaka provided the late flourish in the end by scoring an unbeaten 19 ball-47 to take Lanka to a mammoth 183/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 184, India lost Rohit Sharma early as he chopped a Dushmantha Chameera delivery onto his stumps. Ishan Kishan departed for 16, chipping a fuller delivery from Lahiru Kumara to mid-on.

Shreyas along with Sanju Samson resurrected the innings with a solid 84 run stand for the third wicket before the latter fell to a brilliant one handed catch by Binura Fernando for 39.

All rounder Ravindra Jadeja came in and smashed an unbeaten 45 in 18 balls as India overhauled the target with 17 balls to spare.

With this victory the Men in Blue take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The third and the final T-20 international will be played at the same venue on February 27, Sunday.
