India vs West Indies Third T20I Kolkata Match Report 2022

Suryakumar Yadav scored a sparkling 31 ball-65 as India defeated West Indies by 17 runs in the third T-20 international at Kolkata on Sunday.

West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard won the toss and elected to field first. The Men in Blue opened with Ruturaj Gaikwad alongside Ishan Kishan. However the former got a leading edge to a Jason Holder delivery and was caught at third man by Mayers for 4.

The pair of Kishan along with Shreyas Iyer added 53 runs for the second wicket before the latter top edged a Hayden Walsh delivery to Jason Holder at long off for 25.

The left hander Kishan (34) was castled by Roston Chase while attempting a pull, leaving the hosts in trouble at 66/3.

Skipper Rohit Sharma who came in at No 4 was bowled by Dominic Drakes for a 15-ball 7.

Suryakumar Yadav and Venkatesh Iyer featured in a scintillating 91 run stand for the fifth wicket to lift the hosts to 184/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 185, Deepak Chahar got the hosts off to a fine start by dismissing both Kyle Mayers and Shai Hope to reduce the visitors to 26/2.

The pair of Nicholas Pooran along with Rovman Powell put on 47 runs for the third wicket before the latter fell to a brilliant catch by Shardul Thakur at fine leg off Harshal Patel for 25.

Venkatesh Iyer then got into the act by dismissing both Pollard and Jason Holder in succession as the Windies slumped to 87/5.

Roston Chase (12) was bowled by a brilliant off cutter by Harshal Patel.

Pooran reached his third fifty of the series, before falling to a brilliant catch by wicket keeper Kishan off a Shardul Thakur slower delivery for a well made 61. His knock came off 47 balls with eight fours and a solitary six.

Romario Shepherd struck three sixes in his innings of 29, before perishing to Patel in the penultimate over. In the end the visitors were restricted to 167/9.

Harshal Patel was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/22, while Venkatesh Iyer and Shardul Thakur claimed 2 wickets each.

Suryakumar was declared the Man of the Match and the Series.
