Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders 28 September Sharjah Match Report 2021

Sunil Narine claimed two wickets and scored a quickfire 21 as Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Delhi Capitals by three wickets in Match 41 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

After being asked to bat first by KKR skipper Eoin Morgan, Delhi Capitals openers Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith got their team off to a solid start.

The duo added 35 runs for the opening wicket before Dhawan slashed at a short and wide delivery from Lockie Ferguson to Venkatesh Iyer at cover point.

Sunil Narine then got into the act by dismissing Shreyas Iyer bowled for 1.

Former Aussie skipper Steve Smith looked set for a big knock before he bottom edged a Ferguson delivery on to his stumps for 39.

The likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel fell cheaply leaving their side in big trouble at 92/6.

Captain Rishabh Pant scored a valuable 39 before being run out in the final over, as Delhi Capitals posted 127/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

For Knight Riders Lockie Ferguson, Sunil Narine and Venkatesh Iyer claimed 2 wickets each, while Tim Southee claimed a solitary wicket.

Chasing 128, Kolkata opening duo of Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer got their team of to a solid start. The pair added 28 runs for the opening stand before the latter was dismissed bowled by Lalit Yadav for 14.

Gill looked well set on 30, before he mistimed a Kagiso Rabada delivery to Shreyas at long on. Rahul Tripathi and skipper Morgan fell in quick succession, as Knight Riders were reduced to 67/4.

Narine then took on Kagiso Rabada by smashing him for 21 runs in the 16th over to tilt the game in KKR’s favour.

Nitish Rana was not out on 36, as KKR won the match by 3 wickets.

For DC, Avesh Khan ended up with figures of 3/13.
