Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore 25 October Match Report 2020

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his maiden IPL fifty as Chennai Super Kings registered a convincing win by beating the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 wickets in Dubai on Sunday.

CSK dropped Josh Hazlewood, Shardul Thakur and included Mitchell Santner and Monu Kumar, while for RCB Moeen Ali came in for Isuru Udana.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bangalore opening duo of Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch added 46 runs for the opening wicket, before the latter was dismissed by Sam Curran for 15.

Santner, playing his first game of the tournament then got into the act by dismissing Padikkal in the 7th over.

The pair of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers stitched together a solid 82 runs for the third wicket, before the former South African star was caught at long on by his countryman Du Plessis at long on by Rahul Chahar for a 36 ball 39.

In the 18th over Curran claimed 2 wicket, first dismissing his England team mate Moeen Ali, caught at long off, and then the prize scalp of opposition skipper Virat Kohli for 50.

Deepak Chahar bowled a excellent final over, conceding just 7 runs, as RCB finished with 145/6 at the end of 20 overs.

England all rounder Sam Curran was Super Kings best bowler with figures of 3/19.

Chasing 146, Chennai got off to a flier as young Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf Du Plessis added 46 runs for the opening wicket, before Chris Morris broke the stand through by getting Du Plessis to sky one to Mohammed Siraj at covers.

The pair of Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu added 67 runs for the second wicket, before the latter was bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal for a quickfire 39.

The 23 year old Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 65, as Chennai cruised home with 8 balls to spare.
