Mumbai Indians ahead of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League, have unveiled their new jersey for the upcoming 2019 season on Sunday.
For the new kit launch, MI released a video featuring skipper Rohit Sharma along with Jasprit Bumrah and the Pandya brothers- Krunal and Hardik. In the long video, all-rounder Hardik says ‘Season Naya’ whereas Rohit appears while saying ‘Andaaz Naya’ and Krunal follows him by stating ‘Tewar Wahi’ before the skipper appears back by saying ‘Flavour Naya’. The players then appear together and ask the fans to support their favourite team in a new avatar in the upcoming 2019 season.
The Mumbai Indians have been IPL champions thrice, winning the crowd in 2013, 2015 and 2017. They would be hoping to get the trophy back from Chennai Super Kings in the forthcoming 2019 edition. They have also won the Champions League title in 2011 and 2013.
Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians so far have never won their opening fixture of the IPL. They would be hoping to rectify it in the upcoming edition. The team finished fifth last year.
MI will kick off their campaign against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on March 24. Mumbai have maintained their blue and gold colours.
In the auction they added the likes of veteran Yuvraj Singh, Lasith Malinga, Anmolpreet Singh, Barinder Sran, Pankaj Jaiswal and Rasikh Dar. South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton De Kock who represented Royal Challengers Bangalore in the previous edition, will be seen in MI colours in the 2019 season.
Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard fill in the all rounders slot, while in the bowling department they have got the likes of former Sri Lankan ace bowler Lasith Malinga, Australia’s Jason Behrendorff and New Zealand’s Adam Milne.
Samsung are the main sponsors of the Mumbai Indians 2019 IPL Kit, with the logo of housing finance company DHFL also appearing on the jersey.
