Here are the list of Women’s players who are going to feature in the three T-20 international against England, starting on March 4.
Smriti Mandhana will be leading the side in the absence of regular skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who has been ruled out due to ankle injury.
Kaur also missed the recently ongoing three match one day series against England which India are currently leading 2-0.
The vice captain has been in superb form in the ODI’S against England, and would be hoping to replicate it in the T-20 international as well.
India in the recent T20I series lost 3-0 against New Zealand where Mandhana has made scores of scored 58, 36 and 86 respectively.
The 22 year old left hander also recently captained the Board President’s XI against England in a warm-up game at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Veda Krishnamurthy,who was axed for the tour of New Zealand due to poor form makes a comeback to the side in place of Harmanpreet Kaur.
The likes of Mansi Joshi, Priya Punia and D Hemalatha have been shown the door. The replacements that have been named are left arm fast bowler Komal Zanzad, Harleen Deol and Bharti Fulmali.
Priya Punia who had a poor debut series in New Zealand, where she managed just nine runs in three innings has been axed along with Hemalatha.
Komal Zanzad who bagged 3/14 for Board President’s XI against England received a maiden national call up.
Shikha Pandey will be leading the pace attack, along with the likes of Zanzad and Arundhati Reddy. In the spin bowling department they have the likes of Ekta Bisht, Radha Yadav, Poonam Yadav, Anuja Patil and Deepti Sharma.
The team would be relying on the likes of Mithali Raj to shine with the bat in the T-20’s. Though she was surprisingly left out of the first two T20Is in New Zealand, her cameo in the middle order almost helped her team reach the finishing line at Hamilton.
The three T20Is will be played on March 4, 7 and 9 at Guwahati respectively.
