India after successfully defeating Australia in the latter’s own backyard, would be looking to continue their dominance at home, when they take on the visitors in the first of the two Twenty20 Internationals at Vizag on Sunday. In their tour Down Under, India had registered ODI and Test series wins in Australia, and drew the T20I series 1-1.
The Men in blue have an awesome T-20 record at home against the Aussies, where in five occasions, they have won 4 and lost just 1 with another game being washed out.
This will also be Team India’s last assignment before the World Cup which will be played on May 30 in England.
The home side would be bolstered by the return of their regular skipper Virat Kohli and ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah who were rested for the series against New Zealand.
This would be a magnificent opportunity for the likes of dashing left handed batsman Rishabh Pant and all-rounder Vijay Shankar to make a mark in this series, and to make their case to be in the final XV for the the World Cup . Rohit Sharma who had a mixed bag series against New Zealand would be looking to come good.
First choice all rounder Hardik Pandya who has been ruled out of the entire series with a back injury. Left arm spinner Ravi Jadeja has been named as replacement for the Mumbai Indians all rounder in the one dayers.
Dinesh Karthik, who was dropped from the ODI set up against Australia, would be looking to make most of the opportunity presented to him.
Leg break bowler Mayank Markande who received a maiden call up for the T-20 series is unlikely to feature in the playing XI in Vizag.
Yuzvendra Chahal who bagged six wickets in the ODI in Melbourne would be looking to put yet another dominant performance.
The tourist skipper Aaron Finch who had a poor home series with the bat Down Under would be looking to put up a better show. The likes of D’Arcy Short who has been in tremendous form in the BBL would be looking to replicate their performances in India.
