Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals Jaipur Game 38 April 22 Match Report
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a magnificent century, as Rajasthan Royals thumped Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets at the iconic Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Mumbai Indians got off to a poor start as Rohit Sharma miscued a big hit from Trent Boult in the very first over.
Sandeep Sharma then pegged MI back even further by dismissing Ishan Kishan caught behind the stumps for a duck, and then claiming Suryakumar Yadav (10) caught at mid on by Powell while trying to whip a length ball.
Mohammed Nabi looked good in his innings of 23, before chipping a return catch to Yuzvendra Chahal. In the process the leg spinner claimed his 200th IPL wicket.
The pair of Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera bailed Mumbai out of trouble with a valuable 99 run stand for the fifth wicket before Boult broke the stand by dismissing the latter caught at short third man by Sandeep while attempting a upper cut.
Skipper Hardik Pandya (10) was trapped leg before wicket by Avesh. Sandeep Sharma claimed wickets of Tilak Varma (65), Gerald Coetzee (0) and Tim David in the final over to register a well deserved five-fer.
In the end Mumbai ended up with 179/9 in their 20 overs.
In response, Jaiswal and Jos Buttler got Rajasthan off to a fantastic start. The pair added 74 runs for the opening stand before rain interrupted play for a brief while.
After the resumption, Buttler was cleaned up by wrong’un from Piyush Chawla for 35. Left hander Jaiswal (104)* and Sanju Samson (38)* added an unbeaten 109 runs for the second wicket to take Royals to a 9 wicket win.
