Indian Women vs Pakistan Women T-20 Match Report-2018
Veteran Mithali Raj scored a quickfire 56 runs, as India comfortably defeated arch rivals Pakistan in the Group match of the ICC Women’s World Cup in Guyana on Sunday.
After winning the toss and electing to field, Indian bowlers wrecked through Pakistan’s top order to reduce them to 30/3.
Bismah Maroof and Nida Dar batted sensibly and added 93 valuable runs for the 4th wicket, before Dayalan Hemalatha dismissed both Maroof and Nidar for 53 & 52.
The remaining lower order batsman failed to make a mark, as Pakistan ended up with 133/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Dayalan Hemalatha and Poonam Yadav claimed two wickets each.
Even before the innings began, India were given 10 penalty runs, as Pakistan were docked for running on the danger zone twice.
Chasing a target of 134, India started briskly as Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana added 73 runs for the opening stand, before Mandhana was dismissed by Bismah Maroof for 26 runs.
The 18 year old Jemimah Rodrigues looked good in her brief stay, until she was out caught and bowled by Nida Dar for 16.
The 35 year old Mithali, while trying to finish the game fell to Diana Baig.
Harmanpreet Kaur and Veda Krishnamurthy saw the team through, as India won the match in the 19th over and with 7 wickets to spare.
Nida Dar was the most successful bowler for Pakistan with 1/17 in 4 overs.
Mithali Raj was declared the Man of the match for her brilliant batting.
India now have two wins from as many games in the group stage of the ICC Women’s World T20.
Their next match will be against Ireland on 15th November.
