Gujarat Titans vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Game 62 May 15 Ahmedabad Match Report 2023

Young Shubman Gill scored a sparkling hundred as Gujarat Titans booked their place in the playoffs by defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 34 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday.

After being put into bat, Bhuvneshwar Kumar got Sunrisers off to a dream start by dismissing Wriddhiman Saha in the very first over for a duck.

The pair of Gill along with Sai Sudharshan added 147 runs for the second wicket stand before the latter was caught by Natarajan while attempting a big hit off Marco Jansen for 47.

The Gujarat Titans lost a bit of momentum with wickets of skipper Hardik Pandya (8), David Miller (7) and Rahul Tewatia (3).

However Gill reached his well deserved hundred with a single off Natarajan in the penultimate over. His knock came off just 58 balls with 13 fours and a six. Bhuvneshwar then claimed his fifer, as the Titans ended up with 188/9 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 189, Sunrisers got off to a disastrous start as Anmolpreet Singh (5) perished in the first over, top-edging a pull off Mohammed Shami to Rashid Khan.

Yash Dayal then got into the act by dismissing Abhishek Sharma (5) caught behind the stumps, while attempting a booming drive.

Shami then pegged Sunrisers back with wickets of Rahul Tripathi (1) and Aiden Markram (10) leaving their side in a spot of bother at 29/4.

Hyderabad lost half their side for 45, when Sanvir Singh (7) top edged a cut off Mohit Sharma to Sudarshan at deep third man.

In the same over, Abdul Samad (4) perished to a slower ball to midwicket.

However despite Heinrich Klaasen’s fighting 44-ball 64, the visitors reached 154/9, thereby losing the contest by 34 runs.

Gill was adjudged the Player of the Match for his stupendous knock.
