Delhi Capitals vs Gujarat Titans Game 40 April 24 Match Report

Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant led from the front by scoring a breezy unbeaten 88 as Delhi Capitals defeated Gujarat Titans by 4 runs in a thriller at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday.

After being asked to bat first, openers Prithvi Shaw and Jake Fraser-McGurk got Delhi off to a steady start. The pair added 35 runs for the opening wicket before the latter was caught at deep backward square leg by Noor Ahmad off Sandeep Warrier for 23.

Shaw then fell to a magnificent catch by Ahmad for 11. Warrier claimed his third wicket of his innings by claiming Shai Hope caught at third man by Rashid Khan for 5.

Axar Patel who was promoted at No 3, featured in a 113 run stand for the fourth wicket alongside Pant before the former was caught at long on by Sai Kishore off Ahmad for a well made 66. His knock came off 43 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes.

Tristan Stubbs along with skipper Pant provided a late flourish towards the end to take Delhi to a mammoth score of 224/4 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 225, Titans lost Shubman Gill (6) as he sliced at a delivery from Anrich Nortje to Axar Patel at mid off. Wriddhiman Saha along with Sai Sudarshan featured in a 82 run stand for the second wicket before Kuldeep Yadav broke the partnership by dismissing the former to a fine catch at Axar for 39.

Azmatullah Omarzai then fell to a fine catch by Fraser-McGurk at deep midwicket off Axar for 1. Rasikh Salam then struck a body blow by dismissing the well set Sai Sudharsan (65), caught at long off by Axar. His knock came off 39 balls with 7 fours an 2 sixes.

David Miller kept Gujarat in the hunt by scoring a quickfire 23 ball- 55, before being caught at deep backward square leg by Rasikh off Mukesh Kumar.

With 19 needed off the final over, Rashid Khan took on Mukesh for 14 runs, by smashing two fours and a six but failed to connect off the final delivery, as the Titans finished at 220/8, thereby falling 4 run short of the target.

Chennai Super Kings vs Lucknow Super Giants Chennai Game 39 April 23 Match Report

Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s valiant unbeaten knock of 108 went in vain as Lucknow Super Giants defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday.

After being asked to bat first, Matt Henry drew first blood by dismissing Ajinkya Rahane to a brilliant one handed catch by KL Rahul behind the stumps for 1.

Gaikwad along with Daryl Mitchell added 45 runs for the second wicket stand before the latter (11) pulled a short delivery from Yash Thakur to Deepak Hooda at midwicket.

In the other end CSK Skipper Gaikwad reached his half century in just 28 balls. Left hander Ravi Jadeja departed cheaply as he gloved a slower bouncer from Mohsin Khan to wicket keeper Rahul for 16.

Shivam Dube‘s explosive 27 ball- 66 powered CSK to a fantastic score of 210/4 in their 20 overs. Ruturaj was unbeaten at the other end on 108.

Chasing 211, Lucknow got off to a poor start as Quinton De Dock dragged a delivery from Deepak Chahar on to his stumps. KL Rahul then perished to a length delivery from Mustafizur to Gaikwad at extra cover.

Marcus Stoinis along with Devdutt Padikkal added 55 for the third wicket stand before the latter was knocked over by Matheesha Pathirana for 13. Stoinis featured in yet another crucial 70 run stand for the fourth wicket alongside Nicholas Pooran . The partnership was broken when Pooran miscued a big hit off Pathirana for a 15 ball-34.

The Australian all rounder scored a scintillating unbeaten 63 ball-124 to power LSG to a sixth wicket win.

Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals Jaipur Game 38 April 22 Match Report

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a magnificent century, as Rajasthan Royals thumped Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets at the iconic Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Mumbai Indians got off to a poor start as Rohit Sharma miscued a big hit from Trent Boult in the very first over.

Sandeep Sharma then pegged MI back even further by dismissing Ishan Kishan caught behind the stumps for a duck, and then claiming Suryakumar Yadav (10) caught at mid on by Powell while trying to whip a length ball.

Mohammed Nabi looked good in his innings of 23, before chipping a return catch to Yuzvendra Chahal. In the process the leg spinner claimed his 200th IPL wicket.

The pair of Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera bailed Mumbai out of trouble with a valuable 99 run stand for the fifth wicket before Boult broke the stand by dismissing the latter caught at short third man by Sandeep while attempting a upper cut.

Skipper Hardik Pandya (10) was trapped leg before wicket by Avesh. Sandeep Sharma claimed wickets of Tilak Varma (65), Gerald Coetzee (0) and Tim David in the final over to register a well deserved five-fer.

In the end Mumbai ended up with 179/9 in their 20 overs.

In response, Jaiswal and Jos Buttler got Rajasthan off to a fantastic start. The pair added 74 runs for the opening stand before rain interrupted play for a brief while.

After the resumption, Buttler was cleaned up by wrong’un from Piyush Chawla for 35. Left hander Jaiswal (104)* and Sanju Samson (38)* added an unbeaten 109 runs for the second wicket to take Royals to a 9 wicket win.

LSG vs CSK Attendance 45,392 IPL April 2024 Ekana Stadium Lucknow

An excellent official crowd of 45,392 was present at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow to watch the Super Giants take on the Chennai Super Kings on April 18, 2024. After choosing to bowl first, LSG comfortably chased down the 177 set by CSK, in no small part thanks to the fine wonderful opening partnership between skipper KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock.

CSK’s 176 was primarily down to the fireworks of MS Dhoni lower down the order.
