Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders Game 22 April 8 Chennai Match Report 2024

Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad led from the front by scoring a solid 67 as Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday.

After being asked to bat first, Tushar Deshpande got Chennai off to a perfect start by dismissing Phil Salt, caught at point by Ravindra Jadeja for a golden duck.

The pair of Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi featured in a 56 run stand for the second wicket before Jadeja struck twice- first by dismissing Raghuvanshi (24) leg before wicket while attempting a reverse sweep and then Sunil Narine who miscued a big hit towards wide long on for 27.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer scored 34, but failed to get support from the other batters as Kolkata ended up with 137/9 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 138, CSK openers Rachin Ravindra and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad got their side off to a steady start. The pair added 27 runs for the opening stand before the former miscued a short of length delivery from Vaibhav Arora to Varun Chakravarthy at long on for 15.

Gaikwad along with Daryl Mitchell put on 70 runs for the second wicket before the latter was cleaned up by Narine for 25.

Shivam Dube scored a 19 ball- 28 before being dismissed by Arora. Gaikwad hit the winning the runs by hitting Roy for a boundary as the Super Kings reached the target with 16 balls to spare.
