Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja score fantastic hundreds, while Sarfaraz Khan scored a breezy 62 on his debut as India ended Day 1 of the third test against England in Rajkot on Thursday at 326/5.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, India got off to a bad start losing wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal (10), Shubman Gill (0) and Rajat Patidar (5) with the score on 33.
Rohit got a reprieve on 27, when Joe Root dropped a catch off Hartley. The MI skipper along with Jadeja bailed the hosts out off trouble by adding 204 runs for the fourth wicket stand before the former miscued a short ball from Wood to midwicket for a fantastic 131.
Jadeja featured in yet another crucial 77 run stand for the fifth wicket alongside Sarfaraz before the later was run following a mix up with left hander Jadeja for 62.
The hosts ended Day 1 at 326/5, with Jadeja (110)* and nightwatchman Kuldeep Yadav (1) batting at the crease.
