Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin starred with the ball as India beat England by 106 runs in the second Test at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Monday to level the five-match series 1-1.
Resuming at overnight score of 67/1, Zak Crawley and nightwatchman Rehan Ahmed added 28 more runs before Axar Patel provided the breakthrough by trapping Ahmed leg before wicket for 23.
The pair of Crawley and Ollie Pope added 37 runs for the third wicket before the latter fell to a brilliant catch by skipper Rohit Sharma at slip off Ravi Ashwin.
Root then miscued an hoick off Ashwin to Patel at backward point for 16. Kuldeep Yadav then provided the vital breakthrough by trapping Crawley leg before wicket with a delivery that kept low for 73.
Jasprit Bumrah then claimed Jonny Bairstow (26) leg before wicket just before lunch as England slumped to 194/6. Ben Stokes then fell to a superb one handed pick up and throw from short midwicket by Shreyas Iyer for 11.
The pair of Ben Foakes along with Tom Hartley frustrated the hosts by adding 55 runs for the eight wicket stand before Bumrah ended the stand by dismissing Foakes (36) caught and bowled. Shoaib Bashir (0) then nicked an outswinger from Mukesh Kumar behind the stumps.
The MI star pacer then wrapped up the innings by knocking over Hartley (36) with a peach, as the visitors were bowled out for 292, falling short by 106 runs.
