An excellent crowd of 43,523 was in attendance at the DY Patil Stadium in Nerul, Navi Mumbai as Australia beat hosts India by seven wickets in the third and final T20 international between the two teams. The series was tied at 1-1 coming into this 3rd T2Oi, but Australia again showed their class as they comfortably beat Harmanpreet Kaur’s side.
India started well with Shafali Verma giving them some early momentum with a 17-ball-26, but her dismissal slowed things, with Annabel Sutherland (1/12 in 4 overs) proving miserly in the middle stages. Some fine late hitting from Richa Ghosh (3 sixes) saw India get to 147/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
Australia started cautiously, but began to accelerate in the 4th over and Kaur didn’t really have an answer as runs continued to flow. Skipper Healy made a half century and despite a little wobble when Tahlia McGrath and Ellyse Perry fell in the same over, the visitors coasted home with eight balls to spare.
