India vs West Indies Third ODI Tarouba Match Report 2023

Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and skipper Hardik Pandya scored fine half centuries as India thumped West Indies by 200 runs in the third and the final one day international at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad on Tuesday.

After being asked to bat first, openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill got India off to a blazing start. The duo put on 143 runs for the opening stand.

Kishan got a reprieve in the second over when Carty dropped a catch at backward point off Kyle Mayers. on 9. The left hander capitalized on the opportunity by notching up his third consecutive half century before being stumped by Shai Hope off Yannic Cariah for a 64 ball-77.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (8) playing his second one day international, fell cheaply nicking at a pitched up delivery from Joseph to King at slip. The pair of Gill along with Sanju Samson added 69 runs for the third wicket stand before the latter miscued one to Hetmyer at mid off off Shepherd for 51.

Gill looked set for a hundred but fell for 85, caught at short midwicket by Cariah off Motie. Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav put on 65 runs for the fifth wicket before the latter perished to a slower ball from Shepherd for 35.

Stand in skipper Pandya struck some lusty blows towards the end by scoring an unbeaten 52 ball-70 to take the visitors to a mammoth score of 351/5 in their allotted 50 overs.

Chasing 352, Mukesh Kumar got India off to a dream start by claiming Brandon King, Kyle Mayers and Skipper Shai Hope to reduce the hosts to 17/3.

Jaydev Unadkat playing his first ODI got into the act by removing Keacy Carty for 6. West Indie lost half their side for 40 when Shimron Hetmyer (4) hit a full delivery from Shardul Thakur to Suryakumar Yadav at cover. Thakur also dismissed Romario Shepherd (8) with a short ball, leaving their side in a spot of bother at 50/6.

Alick Athanaze looked good in his innings of 32, before being cleaned by a googly from Kuldeep Yadav. The left arm spinner also dismissed Yannic Cariah leg before wicket for 19.

Alzarri Joseph along with Gudakesh Motie provided some resistance with a ninth wicket stand of 55 runs before the former top edged a pull to wicket keeper Ishan Kishan for 26.

All rounder Thakur then wrapped up the innings by cleaning up Jayden Seales for 1, as the hosts were bundled out for 151, giving the visitors a thumping 200 run win. Gudakesh Motie remained unbeaten on 39.

With this win, the visitors won the series 2-1.
