India vs West Indies Second ODI Bridgetown Match Report 2023

West Indies skipper Shai Hope lead from the front by scoring an unbeaten 63 as West Indies leveled the series 1-1 by beating India by six wickets in the second one dayer at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday.

The Men in blue rested regular skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and included Sanju Samson and Axar Patel.

After being asked to bat first, openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill got India off to a fantastic start. The duo added 90 runs for the opening stand before the latter was caught at long off by Alzarri Joseph off Gudakesh Motie for 34.

Kishan then fell to an stunning catch at backward point by Alick Athanaze off Romario Shepherd for a run a ball 55. Axar Patel (1) who was sent in at No 4 gloved a short ball from Shepherd to Hope behind the stumps.

Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson departed cheaply as the visitors lost half their side for 113. The pair of Suryakumar Yadav along with Ravi Jadeja steadied the ship with a 33 run stand for the sixth wicket before the latter top edged a pull off Shepherd to Yannic Cariah at fine leg for 10.

Suryakumar then slashed one to Athanaze at point for 24. Motie then polished off the tail by dismissing Mukesh Kumar as India were bundled out for 181.

In response, West Indies opening pair off Brandon King and Kyle Mayers got their side off to a bright start. The duo added 53 for the opening stand before the latter flicked on to Umran Malik at fine leg off Shardul Thakur for a 28 ball-36.

King was then trapped leg before wicket by Thakur with a full delivery in the same over for 15.

Shardul then claimed his third wicket when Alick Athanaze top edged a short delivery to wicket keeper for 6. Kuldeep Yadav then got into the act by cleaning up Shimron Hetmyer (9), leaving the hosts in a spot of bother at 91/4.

However Hope along with Keacy Carty shared an unbeaten 91 run stand for the fifth wicket to take West Indies to a comfortable 6 wicket win.
