Akash Madhwal claimed figures of 5/5 as Mumbai Indians beat Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Wednesday.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Mumbai Indians lost both Rohit Sharma (11) and Ishan Kishan (15) cheaply to Naveen-ul-Haq and Yash Thakur respectively.

The pair of Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav added 66 runs for the third wicket stand before Naveen pegged MI back by dismissing both the well set batters for 33 & 41.

Tilak Verma and Tim David put on 43 runs for the fifth wicket stand before the latter perished to a high full toss from Thakur for 13.

Verma (26) and Impact Player Nehal Wadhera (23) scored fine cameos in the end to lift Mumbai to 182/8 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 183, LSG got off to a poor start as Prerak Mankad (3) fell in the second over, caught at deep third man by Hrithik Shokeen off Madhwal.

Chris Jordan then got into the act by dismissing Kyle Mayers (18), miscuing a pull to Green at mid-on.

The pair of Marcus Stoinis along with Krunal Pandya added 46 for the third wicket before the latter miscued a big hit off Piyush Chawla to Tim David at long on for 8.

Madhwal then struck a double blow- first by cleaning up Ayush Badoni (1) and then dismissing Nicholas Pooran for a golden duck as Lucknow lost half their side for 75.

Marcus Stoinis scored a valiant 27 ball-40, before being run out following a collision with Deepak Hooda.

The 29 year old Madhwal claimed his fifer by cleaning up Mohsin Khan (0) with a yorker as Lucknow were bowled out for 101 in 16.3 overs.
