Virat Kohli scored a scintillating hundred as Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.

After being asked to bat first openers Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi got Sunrisers off to a steady start. The pair added 27 runs for the opening wicket before Michael Bracewell dismissed both Abhishek Sharma (11) and Rahul Tripathi (15) in the fifth over.

Skipper Aiden Markram along with Heinrich Klaasen put on 76 runs for the third wicket stand before the former was cleaned up by Shahbaz Ahmed while attempting a reverse sweep for 18.

Klaasen along with Harry Brook provided the much needed momentum by slamming Karn Sharma for 21 runs in the 15th over.

The South African wicket keeper Klaasen reached his maiden hundred off just 49 balls, clobbering Harshal Patel for a straight six in penultimate over. However the RCB pacer knocked him over with a slow yorker in the penultimate over.

In the end Hyderabad posted 186/5 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 187, RCB opening pair of Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli got their side off to a magnificent start. Du Plessis got a reprieve in the fourth over when Glenn Phillips put down a simple catch off Kartik Tyagi.

The duo added 172 runs for the opening stand before Kohli after reaching his landmark fell off the very next delivery while attempting a big hit off Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a 63 ball-100.

In the very next over, Du Plessis (71) perished to T Natarajan, holing out to Rahul Tripathi at long-off. Glenn Maxwell (5*) and Michael Bracewell (4*) then completed the formalities, as Banglore overhauled the target with 4 balls to spare.
