Sai Sudarshan scored a fine unbeaten 62 as Gujarat Titans registered their second consecutive win by defeating the Delhi Capitals by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday.
After being sent into bat by GT skipper, Mohammed Shami put Delhi on the backfoot with wickets of Prithvi Shaw (7) and Mitchell Marsh (4).
The pair of David Warner and Sarfaraz Khan added 30 runs for the third wicket before Alzarri Joseph struck twice- first by dismissing Warner (37) bowled, and then Rilee Rossouw, who fell to a magnificent catch by Rahul Tewatia at point for a golden duck.
Debutant Abishek Porel struck a couple of maximums before being cleaned up by Rashid Khan for a 11 ball-20.
Sarfaraz (30) then top edged a sweep off Rashid to Josh Little. Axar Patel continued his good form with the bat by scoring a valuable 22 ball-36 to lift Capitals to a competitive score of 162/8 in their 20 overs.
Star Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Gujarat with figures of 3/31.
Chasing 163, Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill got Gujarat off to a solid start. The duo added 27 runs for the opening stand before the former (14) was cleaned up by Anrich Nortje that nipped back in sharply.
Gill was undone by pacy delivery from Nortje for 14. Titans were in further trouble when skipper Hardik Pandya edged a delivery from Khaleel Ahmed behind the stumps for 5, leaving them in a spot of bother at 54/3.
However Sudarshan along with Vijay Shankar ( who was brought as an impact player) brought the innings back on track with a fourth wicket stand of 53 runs before the latter was trapped leg before wicket by Mitchell Marsh for 29.
David Miller then provided the finishing touches by scoring an unbeaten 16 ball-31 as the Titans reached the target with 11 balls to spare.
