Jemimah Rodrigues scored a sparkling unbeaten 53 as India Women defeated Pakistan Women by seven wickets at Newlands in Cape Town on Sunday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Deepti Sharma drew first blood by dismissing Javeria Khan (8), caught at short fine leg by Harmanpreet Kaur.
The pair of Muneeba Ali along with skipper Bismah Maroof added 32 runs for the second wicket before the former was stumped by Richa Gosh off Radha Yadav for 12.
Pooja Vastrakar then got into the act by dismissing Nida Dar to a well directed short delivery to keeper Gosh for a duck.
Pakistan were in a spot of bother at 68/4, when Sidra Ameen (11) attempted reverse sweep off Radha behind the wickets.
Skipper Bismah Maroof (68)* along with Ayesha Naseem (43)* anchored the innings with an unbeaten 81 run stand for the fifth wicket.
Ayesha who was dropped twice in the final two overs provided a late flourish in the end to take Pakistan to a competitive total of 149/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
Left arm spinner Radha Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/21.
Chasing 150, openers Yastika Bhatia along with Shafali Verma got India Women off to a solid start. The duo added 38 runs for the opening stand before the former (17) chipped a full delivery from Sadia Iqbal to Fatima Sana at covers.
Shafali looked good in her knock of 33, before falling to a magnificent catch by Sidra Ameen at long off boundary off Nashra Sandhu.
Nashra then also claimed the prize scalp of skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (16), top edging a sweep to Bismah Maroof.
However Jemimah Rodrigues (53)* combined with Richa Ghosh (31)* added an unbeaten 58 run partnership for the fourth wicket, as India Women overhauled the target with an over to spare.
