India vs England Third T20I Nottingham Match Report 2022
Suryakumar Yadav’s belligerent hundred went in vain as India went down by 17 runs in the third and the final T20 international at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Sunday.
The hosts dropped Parkinson and Curran for Phil Salt and Topley, while the visitors included Shreyas Iyer, Avesh Khan, Umran Malik and Ravi Bishnoi for Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, openers Jason Roy and Jos Buttler got England off to a solid start. The duo added 31 runs for the opening wicket before the latter (18) dragged a length ball from Avesh Khan back onto his stumps.
Dawid Malan got a reprieve on 4 when Harshal Patel failed to hold on to a return catch on his follow-through. Young Umran Malik then got into the act by dismissing the dangerous Jason Roy, top-edging a back of a length delivery to Rishabh Pant behind the stumps for 27.
Debutant Phil Salt was then cleaned up with a slower yorker by Harshal Patel, as the hosts were reduced to 84/3.
Malan along with Liam Livingstone featured in a crucial 84 run stand for the fourth wicket before Ravi Bishnoi struck twice- first by dismissing the former for a magnificent 39 ball-77, and then claimed Moeen Ali caught at point off a leading edge for a first ball duck.
Harshal Patel could have dismissed Livingstone on 36, but Virat Kohli dropped a sitter at deep midwicket.
In the end, Chris Jordan scored a couple of lusty blows to power England to a massive total of 215/7 in their allotted 20 overs.
For India, Ravi Bishnoi and Harshal Patel claimed 2 wickets each.
Chasing 216, India got off to a disastrous start as they lost wickets of Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma leaving them in trouble at 31/3.
The pair of Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer stabilised the innings with a 119 run stand for the fourth wicket before Reece Topley provided the crucial breakthrough by dismissing the latter for 28.
Suryakumar Yadav brought up a maiden hundred with a four off David Willey through third man. India lost Dinesh Karthik (6), who was trapped leg before wicket by Willey.
Ravindra Jadeja came in and smashed a low full-toss from Richard Gleeson over long-off for a maximum. However the England pacer dismissed the left hander leg before wicket off the very next ball with a yorker for 7.
With 41 needed off the final two overs, Suryakumar Yadav slammed Moeen for two fours and a six. However his sparkling knock of 117 ended, when he failed to time a length ball off Ali and was caught at long-off by Salt. His innings came off 55 balls with 14 fours and 6 sixes. India vs England First T20I Southampton July 7 Match Report 2022
All rounder Hardik Pandya came up with a brilliant all round performance with both bat and ball as India defeated England by 50 runs in the first T20I at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Thursday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma who returned to the side after recovering from COVID-19, looked in fine touch during his brief stay. However he was undone by a quicker one from Moeen Ali to Jos Buttler behind the stumps for 24.
The off spinner claimed his second wicket by dismissing left hander Ishan Kishan (8), top edging a sweep to Matt Parkinson at short fine leg.
The pair of Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav featured in a 43 run stand for the third wicket before the former miscued a catch to Tymal Mills at short backward square leg off Chris Jordan for a 17 ball-33.
Suryakumar who looked dangerous in his knock of 39, perished to a sharp bouncer from Chris Jordan.
Hardik got a reprieve on 37, as Buttler missed the stumping off Parkinson. However the Indian all rounder capitalized on the opportunity by scoring his maiden T20I fifty. He was dismissed soon after for a 33 ball-51, slashing Reece Topley to Brook at deep point.
The England bowlers fought back brilliantly in the last five overs by conceding only 41 runs, as the visitors ended up with a challenging score of 198/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
For England, Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan claimed two wickets each.
Chasing 199, Bhuvneshwar Kumar got India off to a fantastic start by cleaning up Jos Buttler with a brilliant inswinger for a first ball duck.
Hardik then claimed wickets of Dawid Malan, Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy, leaving England in trouble at 33/4.
The pair of Harry Brook and Moeen Ali resurrected the innings with a solid 61 run stand for the fifth wicket. Brook was dropped twice by Dinesh Karthik, finally perished to a fine running catch by Suryakumar Yadav at deep midwicket off Yuzvendra Chahal for 28.
Chahal then dented England’s hopes by dismissing the dangerous Moeen Ali (36) stumped by wicket keeper Dinesh Karthik in the same over.
The 29 year old Hardik Pandya claimed his fourth, as Sam Curran (4) top-edged a hook to Karthik behind the stumps.
