Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals April 22 Wankhede Stadium Mumbai Match Report 2022

Jos Buttler smashed his third century as the Rajasthan Royals defeated the Delhi Capitals by 15 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday.

After being asked to bat first by DC skipper, openers Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal got Rajasthan off to a brilliant start. The duo put on 155 runs for the opening stand before the latter was trapped by Khaleel Ahmed for a well made 54.

The England wicket keeper batsman scored a magnificent 116, before holling out to David Warner at long on off Mustafizur Rahman. His knock came off 65 balls with 9 fours and 9 sixes.

In the process he become only the second cricketer after Virat Kohli to score three hundreds in a Indian Premier League season.

In the end, skipper Sanju Samson scored a breezy 19 ball-46 to power Royals to a mammoth score of 222/2 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 223, Delhi openers Prithvi Shaw and David Warner got their side off to a solid start. The pair added 43 runs for the first wicket before the latter perished to Prasidh Krishna for 28.

Ravi Ashwin then got into the act by dismissing Sarfaraz Khan, caught at square leg by Prasidh.

Shaw along with skipper Rishabh Pant added 51 runs for the third wicket before the former perished to Ashwin for a 27 ball-37.

However Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell kept the Capitals hopes alive, but a wicket maiden in the penultimate over by Krishna brought the equation to 36 needed off the final over.

Powell hit three sixes off the first three balls off Obed McCoy , but it wasn’t enough as DC fell short by 15 runs.

With this victory, Rajasthan climb into the top position with 10 points.
