Ravi Ashwin then got into the act by dismissing Sarfaraz Khan, caught at square leg by Prasidh.
Shaw along with skipper Rishabh Pant added 51 runs for the third wicket before the former perished to Ashwin for a 27 ball-37.
However Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell kept the Capitals hopes alive, but a wicket maiden in the penultimate over by Krishna brought the equation to 36 needed off the final over.
Powell hit three sixes off the first three balls off Obed McCoy , but it wasn’t enough as DC fell short by 15 runs.
