India vs Sri Lanka First Test Day 2 Mohali Match Report 2022

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored a magnificent unbeaten 175 as India dominated Day 2 of the opening test in Mohali on Saturday.

Resuming at overnight score of 357/6, the pair of Jadeja along with Ravi Ashwin added 105 more runs for the seventh wicket before the latter was dismissed just before lunch, top-edging a pull off Suranga Lakmal to wicket keeper for 61.

Jayant Yadav soon fell after lunch, nicking a Vishwa Fernando delivery to Thirimanne at first slip.

The 33 year old left hander took on the Lankan bowlers by smashing them to all parts of the ground. He reached his 150 by smashing Dhananjaya de Silva for a maximum over long-off.

However Rohit Sharma’s men declared the innings just before tea, as they declared their first innings at 574/8.

In response Sri Lanka opening pair of Dimuth Karunaratne along with Lahiru Thirimanne got their side off to a solid start. The duo put on 48 runs for the first wicket before Thirimanne was trapped leg before wicket by Ravi Ashwin for 17.

Jadeja then dismissed skipper Karunaratne with a ball that turned viciously from outside off and was struck on the pads.

The visitors lost Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva as the Lankans ended Day 2 at 108/4, still trailing by 466 runs.
