Chennai Super Kings continued their winning streak by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by six wickets, and thus became the first team to qualify for the playoffs at Sharjah on Thursday.
After being asked to bat first by CSK skipper MS Dhoni, SRH lost Jason Roy early as he bottom-edged a Josh Hazlewood delivery to Dhoni behind the stumps.
Skipper Kane Williamson was trapped leg before wicket after missing a flick off Dwayne Bravo for 11.
However Wriddhiman Saha in the 9th over had a lucky escape as he cut Shardul Thakur straight to point but unfortunately the bowler had over stepped.
However Ravi Jadeja finally dismissed Saha as he top edged one to Dhoni for a well made 44, leaving their side in a spot of bother at 74/4.
The pair of Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad added 35 runs for the fifth wicket before the former hit a Hazlewood delivery to Faf Du Plessis at long on.
Samad also perished in the same over, lobbing a catch to Moeen Ali at point.
Rashid Khan scored some useful runs in the end to take Sunrisers to 134/7 after 20 overs.
For Super Kings Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/24, while Bravo claimed 2 wickets.
Chasing 135, Chennai opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis got their side off to a brilliant start. The duo added 75 runs for the opening wicket before the former was dismissed by Holder for a 38 ball-45.
Sunrisers fought back with their bowlers dismissing Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina and Du Plessis in quick succession.
Ambati Rayudu (17*) and MS Dhoni (14*) held their nerves towards the end and guided CSK to a six wicket win.
For Sunrisers, Jason Holder ended up with figures of 3/27.
