Punjab Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad 21 April Chennai Match Report 2021

Jonny Bairstow smashed an unbeaten 63, as Sunrisers Hyderabad registered their first win by defeating Punjab Kings by 9 wickets on Wednesday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Punjab Kings lost skipper KL Rahul early, caught at mid wicket by Kedar Jadhav off Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Mayank Agarwal along with Chris Gayle added 24 runs for the second wicket before the former fell to Khaleel Ahmed for 22.

Gayle was trapped leg before wicket for 15 by Afghanistan legspinner Rashid Khan and Nicholas Pooran was run out without facing a ball for his third successive duck of the tournament as Punjab slumped to 39/3 in the 8th over.

Former India U-19 all rounder Abhishek Sharma then got into the act by dismissing Deepak Hooda and Moises Henriques leaving Punjab in serious trouble at 82/6.

Shahrukh Khan scored a 17 ball 22 with two sixes but Punjab Kings were bundled out for 120 in 19.4 overs.

Khaleel Ahmed was Sunrisers best bowler with figures of 3/21, while Sharma bagged 2 wickets.

Chasing 121, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow gave Sunrisers a perfect start with a 73-run stand for the first wicket, before the former fell to Fabian Allen for 47.

Bairstow and Williamson added an 48 runs for the second wicket as Sunrisers comfortably ran out winners by 9 wickets.
