Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals 10 April Mumbai Match Report 2021

Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw scored respective half centuries as Delhi Capitals defeated Chennai Super Kings by 7 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.

After being asked to bat first new Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant, Chennai Super Kings started disastrously by losing Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad cheaply.

Suresh Raina playing his first IPL game since the 2019 final, stitched together a valuable 53 run stand along with Moeen Ali before the latter was caught at short third man by Shikhar Dhawan off Ravi Ashwin for 36.

Raina along with Ambati Rayudu were involved in a 63 run stand for the fourth wicket, before Tom Curran broke the stand by dismissing Rayudu for 23.

The 34 year old Raina looked good in his innings of 54 before being run out in an unfortunate manner.

Avesh Khan claimed the prize scalp of skipper MS Dhoni for a duck leaving Chennai in a spot of bother at 137/6.

The pair of Sam Curran along with Ravindra Jadeja put on an quickfire 51 run stand before the former was bowled by Chris Woakes for a 15 ball 34. Jadeja remained unbeaten on 26, as CSK ended up with 188/7 at the end of their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 189, Delhi Capitals opening pair of Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan got their team off to magnificent start. The duo added 138 runs for the opening wicket before DJ Bravo finally broke the partnership by dismissing Shaw for an entertaining 72 off 38 balls. His knock comprised off 9 fours and 3 sixes.

Dhawan scored a blazing 85 before being trapped in front by Shardul Thakur. Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten on 15 as Delhi reached the target with 8 balls to spare.
