India vs South Africa First T-20 Match Report-2018

India having beaten the hosts 5-1 in the ODI series, started the T20I series with a comprehensive 28-run win over South Africa in the first of the three-match series at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday.

India after being sent into bat got to a rolicking start with Dhawan and Rohit putting on a partnership of 23 runs for the first wicket before Rohit fell to Junior Dala for a quickfire 21.

Raina who made a comeback to the Indian team was promoted to No 3 and scored a quickfire 15.

Shikhar Dhawan’s 39-ball 72 and contributions from captain Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey propelled the visitors to 203 in their alloted 20 overs.

The Proteas lost three wickets inside the first seven overs before Reeza Hendricks and Farhaan Behardien partnership of 81 runs gave them some hope.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s triple-strike in the 18th over ensured a brillant win for India.

He finished with career-best figures of 5/24, as South Africa could muster 175 runs.

Bhuvneshwar also became the fist India pacer to take five-wicket haul in T20Is.
